The Mustang
"Time" Machine
“Besides all the obvious reasons like they are fun to drive,
they are America’s favorite pony car with 50 years of history, its great
styling and the fact that it puts you in touch with such other great people
that share your passion of the Mustang, the reason I most enjoy my Mustang is
because it's like a time machine. When I get behind the wheel, it's like being instantly
taken back to a better day. It stirs up fond memories of my younger years and
fun times I have experienced. But it's not only me that’s affected that way. So
often, while driving or showing the fastback, I meet people who are affected
the same way. People who want to share a story about a Mustang they used to
have or one that a friend or relative gave them rides in. It takes you back to
a simpler time, and I guess that's what owning a classic Mustang is all about!”

“A picture tells a thousand words, and I like the looks I
get when I drive down the street.”

Made in America
“Mustangs have a unique handsomeness. Each time I see one
passing by I look and admire the ‘body’. I also love the sound of the car’s
engine. I own a 2008 hard top Mustang. I love passing others with ease on the
highway. I guess I just love everything about Mustangs, and Mustang is ‘Made in
America!’”

Smiles from Onlookers
“It's the reaction it gets from people of all ages and
genders - ooohs and aaaahhs, broad smiles and many 'thumbs up.' The money and
labor spent on it through the years makes it all worthwhile. I can't think of a
better way to enjoy the summer and bring a little happiness to all who see it.”

I have a Honda CRV for the grandkids. My green Mustang is ‘My’ treat!”

Pride of the Herd
“The sexiest body lines of any car. The joy and sensation of
driving a true American heritage! Made In America for 50 Years! The pride of
the herd!”

A Stance that Never
Ages
“I will first tell you about my 1968 Mustang. Obviously I
love everything about the car. I've had it for 43 years. But if I had to really
nail down one thing I like most, it’s the car’s ageless design. It just never
gets old to look at. The color scheme doesn't hurt the car either. It’s Diamond
Blue with a black vinyl roof and C stripes along with chrome mags. That classic
Mustang stance never ages. As for my 2009 Mustang, it has to be the fact that
it’s a California Special. I believe Ford nailed it that year with the design
and paid true homage to the original CS cars of old.”

Girl Racer Memories
“What do I love most about my 1991 LX 5.0 convertible
Mustang? I love the fact that it takes me back to my glory days. It reminds me
of being young and drag racing Camaros and winning. Then watching the
expressions on the boys' faces when they realized that they had just been
beaten by a girl. Now I love driving around, under the speed limit, in the slow
lane, with my lovely fiancé and daughter in the car.”

A Common Link through
the Years
“The one thing that stands out in my mind (since I have a
restored 1964 1/2 coupe) is how this car actually has connected my generation
(I am 62 years old) with the generation that has followed, and even their
children. It was, and still is, a car that has ‘never gotten old’ in their
eyes. It has maintained that reputation due to the fact it looks youthful,
cool, and even sporty to them. I have a ball telling them about the car, its
roots, and how it was launched successfully back in 1964 in the face of
naysayers and critics of the American car manufacturers who they said the car
would flop!

The First Mustang in
Town
“When something like
a car stirs your soul and memories how can it not be your love? My dad was the first in Carey, a small town
in Ohio, to get the 1965 Mustang. I was so proud that ‘my’ dad was getting a
Mustang. The hype around the car was incredible. I was instantly raised to stardom amongst my
classmates. When the car was on backorder, my stardom began to wane. Soon my
classmates were saying that the car really wasn't coming even though I assured
them it was. My dad's uncle called him one day. ‘How is my favorite nephew? Do
you have that fancy car yet?’ ‘No’, was my dad's sad answer. ‘Well, I know Lee
Iacocca and I'll get you your car!’ The next week the car arrives and my
stardom was restored as we drove through town with the top down and me waving
to all my friends from the top of the back seat. My heart found a new love.
Fast forward six years when I was looking for my own car. Dad tried to steer me
to the little Buick type coupe of the day but they were just....boring! Then, I
saw it! My 1965 dark blue coupe and I knew that I had come home! It filled my
heart with power and burning rubber like nothing else! I was sad when we sold
it but marriage and family dictated that we needed a truck. Fast forward 19
years to my son who announces that he wants a Mustang for his first car. After
his car was purchased the Mustang heartbeat rekindled in our hearts. The timing
was perfect and we ended up with three ponies in the corral in the next four
years. We felt very foolish spending retirement stock options restoring cars
but not anymore. It was Enron stock! So, it is the car itself that we love. Not
a particular year or body style but the way THAT car makes you feel in your
heart!”

My Stable of Ponies
“I have four Mustangs; A one-of-one 2000 Saleen supercharged
roaster, a 1999 anniversary model, a 1991 GT vert tricked out, and an
absolutely gorgeous 1966. What I like best is they are Fords. They all run
good. I traded at 1967 Chevelle SS for the Saleen. Everyone has Novas,
Chevelles, and Camaros, but not many people have Saleens, or even a 1966
Mustang for that matter. I took the 1966 to a cruise. It was the only one
there. It has a Rangoon Red exterior with red and black interior, carbon fiber
inserts in the seats, and a B&M Pro ratchet shifter. That Mustang always
draws a crowd. Well, as you can see, I definitely love mustangs. Oh, I had a
1967 Shelby Cobra GT500 too. It was bad to the bone, but that’s a different
story!”
