2000 Ford Mustang SVT Cobra

In 2000, the Cobra R returned for a production of 300 units (effectively taking the place of the standard Cobra for that model year) with a 5.4L DOHC engine (6500 rpm redline) that was rated at 385 horsepower (287 kW) and 385 ft · lbf (522 N · m) of torque, although independent testing bench tests have shown that it produces the output of the rear wheel which almost coincides both of those numbers, suggesting that the engine may be It has been underestimated. The iron block is based on Ford 5.4L block used in trucks. The cylinder heads were later used in the (slightly modified) Ford GT. Some sources claim that the engine of the Australian Ford Falcon GT is very similar to the 00 R. As before, this model was designed to be a performance car ready to compete in a perfectly street legal package; as such, it lacks many of the amenities of the production line basis Cobra enjoyed. This model had no radio / audio, no air conditioning, no cruise control and no back seat. Each of the 300 produced show an interior coated with carbon cloth Recaro buckets and wearing a red outer performance.

The 2000 Cobra R had several distinguishing visual features and performance that make it easy to identify as more than a normal Cobra 1999 or 2001. The bell "power dome" for example, is higher than normal hood of the cobra, and it has the guts that can be cut out to reduce the temperature of the engine compartment. The rear wing is high and wide, providing much needed strength down to a speed track. The 2000 Cobra R is equipped with Eibach springs that lower the car 1.5 inches in front and 1.0 inches in the rear. This model also uses shocks and struts, front Brembo 4 piston acting on 13-inch rotors cooled large ducts, along with a fuel cell running style that is clearly visible protruding under the rear bumper V6 Bilstein style. The front bumper is adorned with a low horse riding, removable divider. The wheels are also uniquely decorated silver five-spoke 18-inch (460 mm) x alloys wrapped in tires Goodrich G-Force KD aggressive BF 9.5 inches (240 mm). SVT engine construction uses special hand DOHC cylinder heads, a "trumpet style" manifold, aggressive cams trees, short tube headers and catalysts Cobra connected to an X-pipe Bassani, and a system leaving only escape double-sided tassel, which had to be installed due to the fuel cell large. This model also has 3.55 gears, a differential Gerodisc with hydro-mechanical speed and torque sensitivity and Tremec T-56 6-speed transmission that is closely geared for endurance or racetrack use. Despite these close relations, the 2000 Cobra R also enjoyed a 175.3 mph (282 km / h) top speed. The car was developed with extensive help from Jack Roush, who did a lot of work on set-up, and the parts they suggest.

A lot of known parts for Mustang producers were involved in this project, including Recaro, Brembo, McLeod, Eibach, BF Goodrich, Tremec, Tassel, Dana, Federal Mogul, and K & N (among others).
