2010 Ford Mustang GT

Could almost five years after the last major redo of the Mustangs, ardent fans of Ford pony car were groundbreaking 2010 especially in view of the new Dodge Challenger and Chevy Camaro models with which they compete for hope a completely new model. Instead, 2010 Ford Mustang GT has launched a thoughtful upgrade, improving the areas most needed help.
Number one was the interior that has a retro look, but was sewn from hard plastic plates with numerous seams. From behind the wheel, the most obvious change is an instrument panel that extends from house to house and from the base of the windshield on the top of the center console. These thermoplastic olefin shape feels squishy and looks rich. The double cover issue of the current car further, but it's with metallic trim and less coated plastic, a new instrument cluster with full round instruments and an optional navigation system with a huge, eight-inch screen and the latest version of upgrade the Ford / Microsoft Sync telematics system ,

Outside, the new model is clearly a facelift and not a completely new design, with a closer resemblance to the '69 Stang than the current car. The four light grids-the inner two are actually large fog lights and kicked-up rear fender lines come directly from the '69 car. Otherwise, the plate is chamfered at both ends, and there is a pronounced bonnet bulge-the new model looks both muscular and a little less than the current that seems like a clean and coherent development in some way.
The new skin, in combination with covers under the engine, reduces drag by seven percent and front linkage by 23 percent on the GT models we drove to Ford. And at the rear, each of the LED taillights have three separate elements that light up sequentially, as well as the turn signal certain vintage Thunderbirds.
Among the 2010 model is largely over, carried out with the most important additions to improve rigidity and update the ride and handling. Using the latest car Bullitt package as a starting point, the new car gets 17 percent stiffer rear springs and recalibrated shocks significantly more compression damping and slightly stiffer rebound damping. The changes are designed to reduce body roll in hard cornering by about ten percent.
The V-8-powered GT now comes standard with 8 x 18-inch wheels (from 8 x 17s), and the standard rubber is a Mustang-specific 235 / 50ZR Pirelli P Zero Nero all-season tires, a further development of the 17- inch Nero on the current GT. In Ford tests, these tires perform well in snow and provide 0.84 g dry cornering grip. Upgrade to 245 / 45ZR-19 mounted on 8.5-inch wide rims throwing grip on an alleged 0.90g. The last we tested GT pulled 0.89 g on a full year of Nero.
Ford finally provides a Track Pack, the / P 19-40ZR includes 255 Zero summer tires, stiffer shocks, powerful brake pads, a 3.73 axle ratio instead of 3.31, rear trailing arm with stiffer bushings, a strut tower brace, and large stabilizers (the 34mm tubular front bar goes from 5.1 to 5.8 mm wall thickness and the fixed rear bar increases display from 20 to 24 mm). With all these changes, says Ford maximum grip increased to 0.93g, while body roll is a further ten percent reduction.
The larger standard wheels and tires add just £ 15 to the Mustang, which is a good thing, that does not make much away. Thanks to a cold air system on the basis of the Bullitt Mustang performance to 300-315 horsepower and torque increases a modest 5 pounds-feet to 325. The Redline is 6250-6500 rpm, the matching Bullitt. The cold air system is said 0-to-60 times of 0.3 seconds from cut a traffic light when the engine was heat soaking idling at traffic lights. The gear units are unchanged with a choice of a standard five-speed manual transmission or an optional five-speed automatic.
